The debate rages at the network level about the new content ratings such as TV-G and TV-14, which are supposed to guide parents as to whether a show is appropriate for kids. Meanwhile, local stations are finding they also have to become involved, although responses vary from station to station.
Typically, the issue for local stations involves syndicated programming. Though syndicators of shows such as "Oprah" or "Geraldo" will suggest a rating, local stations don't necessarily feel bound by it.
