NEW FLUTE:The Boston Symphony Orchestra has appointed a new principal flute to fill the Walter Piston chair vacated by Doriot Anthony Dwyer when she retired in 1989.
The new flutist is Jacques Zoon (pronounced Zone), a native of the Netherlands, who is currently on the faculty of the University of Indiana.
Zoon served as principal flute of the Royal Concertgebouw from 1988-1994 and has performed with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe since 1989. He also served as principal flute of the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Hague Philharmonic and the Amsterdam Philharmonic.
