Charity burned in cap snafu
A nasty court fight between Major League Baseball and a bankrupt Randolph baseball cap manufacturer may mean that 1,000 licensed hats go up in smoke instead of to the Jimmy Fund.
How sporting of them!
Roman Art Embroidery - a former league licensee that took a hit in the 1995 baseball strike and filed for Chapter 11 protection last year - offered to give the caps back to Major League Baseball, its largest secured creditor. But the league's lawyers refused to credit their $377,000 account.
And when the company offered to donate the hats to charity, the baseball bigwigs told them to burn them!
