John Karinska of Dorchester, a retired Army veteran, died Thursday at Brigham and Women's Hospital. He was 74.
Born in Boston, Mr. Karinska was raised in the West End and South Boston. He attended Boston Public Schools.
Mr. Karinska worked in the trucking industry before entering the Army during World War II.
After returning disabled from active duty, Mr. Karinska dedicated much of his time and efforts to helping others within veterans' organizations.
He was the Massachusetts State Commander of the Disabled American Veterans 1993-94 and was a life member of Disabled American Veterans Post 22 of South Boston.
