MIAMI -- Eight baseball players representing an outfit called the Florida Marlins were tossing the ball in right field at Pro Player Stadium yesterday afternoon. They were wearing T-shirts and black shorts, the kind of shorts that kids wear in gym class and intramural basketball.
It started to rain, and then it stopped, and then it started again, and then it stopped. Beyond the stadium in left field, the sky was dark, the weather threatening to chew up the day. Beyond the stadium in right field, the sky was an orange juice TV commercial, bright and cheery.
