It is said in Israel that Jerusalem is where the people pray, Haifa is where they work and Tel Aviv is where they play.
Americans are certain, then, to feel an affinity for brash Tel Aviv, a Miami-by-the-Mediterranean complete with skyscrapers, marvelous ethnic cuisine, pristine beaches and a nightlife unrivaled anywhere else in the young nation.
In a familiar bow to the United States' unofficial capital, Tel Avivis call their home "the city that never sleeps." This is an accurate description of the city's nightlife, which doesn't end until the sun rises on a new day.
