Article: State sex offender registry gets few inquiries.

Seven months after the passage of a sex offender registry law in Massachusetts, the throngs of residents who angrily demanded the measure have yet to take advantage of it.

From small towns to the Bay State's largest cities, police departments report only a trickle of inquiries, most of them from schools and day-care providers.

"A few people have been concerned, but as far as the general public, the demand just hasn't been there," said Natick police Lt. Alfred Grassey, who has logged fewer than eight requests for information since the law went into effect Oct. 1.
