I read "Planned Breech Homebirth" in the Winter '97 issue of Special Delivery: Zoey Helenske did not have an "unassisted" homebirth. She was assisted by her partner and also her good friend.

Every time a homebirth story -- without a midwife present -- is published in any periodical, there is always a disclaimer, usually from the editor or owner, saying that births without a medical person or midwife present are not recommended or condoned. This is not just a legal point; it seems to be the general consensus.
