PROJECT OVERVIEW:
The local PEMEX EXPLORATION & PRODUCTION, a subsidiary of the state-owned PETROLEOS MEXICANOS (PEMEX), recently awarded a facilities automation contract to a Mexican joint venture. The partners in the planned undertaking include HONEYWELL MEXICO, a subsidiary of U.S.-based HONEYWELL INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION & CONTROL and GRUPO INDUSTRIAL DEL ATLANTICO (GIASA).
According to the terms of the award, the partnership will be responsible for automating PEMEX's oil and gas extraction facilities on Cantarell. The latter is said to be the country's only super-giant oil field. The operation currently has an output of close to 1.3 million ...
