Expanding
Expanding, in language, means putting a word or words that children say into a full sentence. By adding on, we help them communicate what they would like to express if only they had the words to do so. Research conducted over the last two decades has shown that using the technique of expansion will help children learn how to put words together. They learn that patterns of word types (for example, adjective words and object words and action words) go together in the same way every time.
