PLAYING FOR PAPA 'BEAR': With 323 victories, Paul (Bear) Bryant was the most successful football coach in NCAA history. Ken Stabler played for Bryant at Alabama from 1965 to 1967 before starring for the Raiders.
I hurt my knee in spring practice and Coach Bryant didn't want me to reinjure it. So he held me out of practice and I got bored with not being able to play. I didn't go to school. I started hanging out and having fun, not doing what I was supposed to do.
