NEX starts compounding line in Mass.
TURNERS FALLS, MASS. -- New England Extrusion Inc. has started its own compounding line for specialty packaging materials.
The Turners Falls firm will use the compounds in film production for medical- and food-packaging applications. NEX had been sourcing such materials from an undisclosed compounder, according to marketing manager Melissa Gardiner.
Gardiner said the twin-screw compounder will provide NEX with more-consistent materials for its film lines. NEX has developed proprietary compounds with additives to improve heat-seal, hot-pack and tamper-evident-color-change properties. Officials did not ...
