With one possible entry already out of the running, other competitors for New Zealand's $300 million armored vehicle program are beginning to waver on whether they will bid for the program amid a perception that the requirements are wired towards General Motors of Canada's [GM] LAV III light armored vehicle.
"It was obvious that they wanted a certain vehicle," Wolfgang Riedl, the executive vice president for Austria's Steyr-Daimler-Puch special vehicles unit, told Defense Daily last week during the Association of the United States Army symposium in Washington, D.C., explaining why his company has decided not to bid for the program.
