PARIS - Just a few streets away from the quaint French cafes and bakeries nestled at the foot of Montmartre, the streets are thronged with men and women chattering in Arabic.
The scent of expresso coffee and baked croissants gives way to the spicy aroma of North African tagine stew and couscous. Elderly men sip mint tea and women wearing headscarves stand close by their teen-aged daughters as they rummage through bins of T-shirts and jeans.
