****THE GOP ISN'T LIKELY TO GET EVERYTHING LAWMAKERS HAD BEEN HOPING FOR.****
The poor GOP performance yesterday reduces chances that broad tax cuts, tort reform or any of the other big-ticket Republican items on the agenda would be achieved in the next two years.
"The [GOP] base is going to be frustrated for another two years," said Ralph Hellmann, lead House lobbyist for the National Federation of Independent Business. "A significant change of legislative pace won't occur until a Republican wins the White House and they are going to have to get used to it."
