LAS VEGAS - Mike Tyson will have to prove to the Nevada Athletic Commission that he is mentally fit to get into the ring before he will get his boxing license back.
After a six-hour hearing yesterday, commission members voted to delay any decision on reinstating Tyson until the former two-time heavyweight champion undergoes an independent psychiatric examination to prove he can control himself in a fight.
Tyson's mental state was the focus of much of the hearing, with a psychiatrist and a psychotherapist offering testimony of Tyson's fitness. At one point, Tyson said, "I feel like Norman Bates up here with all these doctors."
