D.C. United will defend its CONCACAF Champions' Cup title in Las Vegas beginning Sept. 28, sources with U.S. Soccer, Major League Soccer and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority have confirmed.
A formal announcement is expected next week. The tournament will be played at UNLV's Sam Boyd Stadium, which is switching from artificial turf to grass this summer. International soccer rules prohibit sanctioned tournaments being played on artificial turf.
The first rounds - both doubleheaders will be Sept. 28-29, the semifinals Oct. 1 and the final Oct. 3.
