Washington journalist Kenneth R. Walker, a friend and longtime colleague who fortunately includes me among the long list of people who receive his thought-provoking electronic mailings, recently mused about the profound impact the 1954 landmark Supreme Court decision, Brown vs. Board of Education, had upon our lives.
This legal milestone significantly altered the opportunities available for black children like "Kenny" and "AW" (pronounced "A-Dub"). That's the nickname he's called me since our riotous days as young reporters at the old Washington Star in the mid- to late '70s.
