When there is talk of impeachment, there is talk of the Federalist Papers. These thoughtful if verbose essays, published under pseudonyms more than 200 years ago, have legs - long ones.

There were 85 actual "papers" written by John Jay, James Madison and Alexander Hamilton, published in 1787 and 1788 in several New York newspapers under the name "Publius." The authors primarily championed the Constitution and a strong central government.
