Trent Green let the answering machine pick up the nearly 40 messages since he was named the Washington Redskins' starting quarterback Monday. Some long-forgotten friends wanted to reconnect, maybe even get tickets.
"You wouldn't believe the people coming out of the woodwork," Green said.
Oh, yes we would. There's no escaping Redskins fans who will cheer underdogs heartily until they make mistakes, then chant for the next backup's promotion. After three years of obscurity while standing alongside coach Norv Turner with a clipboard on the sideline - Green now has to struggle with "trying to make [things] as normal as possible."
