Past skin cancer a precursor: Lesser malady makes disease more likely cause of death.(Nation)

Sun worshippers take note: People with a history of skin cancer are much more likely to die from other, more-serious forms of cancer, a new study has found.

Researchers at the American Cancer Society found that men with a history of non-melanoma skin cancer - a less-serious form of the disease - were 30 percent more likely to die of cancer. Women with a history of non-melanoma skin cancer were 20 percent more likely to die.

"These skin cancers have long been known to be associated with melanoma, but not with other cancers," said Dr. Henry Kahn, senior research fellow for the American Cancer Society.
