Fasten your seat belts, Washington. On Wednesday, the Corcoran Gallery of Art and the Corcoran College of Art and Design will announce the architect of its much-heralded $40 million renovation and addition.
"We want to build the greatest building of today," says David C. Levy, director and president of the Corcoran, which is both a museum and a school, a place where art is both made and viewed.
The finalists, all well-known, are Frank O. Gehry, Daniel Libeskind and Santiago Calatrava.
The winning architect will design a new building on New York Avenue NW, near the corner of 17th Street, in what is now the Corcoran's parking lot. He will ...
