Among the heroes of the Confederacy, Gen. Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson ran - and runs - a close second in veneration to Gen. Robert E. Lee. Sympathetic biographers often polish the images of our heroes to the point where their flaws are forgotten. It may be that Stonewall is an example.
In writing the published biography "Stonewall Jackson - the Man, the Soldier, the Legend," professor James I. Robertson Jr. explored the darker side of this strange man.
