Colds and flu strains are bad enough to deal with during the wintertime, but Jamie Bradshaw of Springfield says the worst is strep throat.
"That's a classic," the mother of two says. "The symptoms don't always show up right away. When you go into the doctor's office, they have to do a 24-hour throat culture. So when your child's in school, that's when you get the call . . . whoops! They're contagious. I have had a lot of friends who had that happen unknowingly. But you can't keep a child home with every sore throat. And you don't always have a fever with strep."
