The shadowy terrorist financier whose camps were the target of U.S. missile strikes has a long list of connections to many groups and a few state sponsors of terrorism, according to U.S. intelligence officials and documents.
Osama bin Laden and his Islamic followers have left a trail of terrorist activities that stretches from the 1993 World Trade Center bombing in New York City to the 1996 bombing of Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia that killed 19 U.S. servicemen, to the recent blasts at two American embassies in Africa.
