She goes all out - on graphite legs: Georgetown's Aimee Mullins trains for 2000 Paralympics.(A)

Sprinter Aimee Mullins knows people stare at her when she runs. People have been staring at her her whole life. Sometimes it is because of her flowing blonde hair and blue eyes and natural confidence. Much of the time, though, it is because Mullins has no feet.

Born without fibulas, Mullins, 23, had both legs amputated below the knee at age 1. But that never kept the Allentown, Pa., native from running with the Georgetown women's track team. She was the first double-amputee to compete in NCAA Division I, and now, after having recently completed her college career, she is training for the 2000 Paralympics in Sydney.
