Long-ago Washington Senators sluggers Roy Sievers, Jim Lemon and Frank Howard turned up Saturday for the Washington Baseball Historical Society's first NatsFest memorabilia show at the Holiday Inn on the Hill, and a fan with a sick sense of humor inquired if anybody had ever offered one of them $11 million a season.
"Not that I recall," said Lemon, a good ol' boy from Virginia who has a nice dry sense of humor. "It was tough enough trying to get $20,000 out of [Senators owner] Calvin Griffith."
"Yeah," added Sievers. "And if you wanted $25,000, they traded you."
