Andrew Borowiec's assertions in his Dec. 8 article "Immigrant influx of Turks muddies Cyprus problems," with respect to the Cyprus problem and the demographic structure of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, are, as usual, one-sided and inaccurate.
To set the record straight once again, Turkey did not "invade" Cyprus in 1974, but intervened in accordance with its treaty rights and obligations following a bloody coup d'etat by the Greek-Greek Cypriot forces aiming at the annexation of Cyprus by Greece.
Mr. Borowiec's allegation of the importation of so-called "settlers" from Turkey is nothing but a repetition of the official Greek Cypriot ...
