Andre Ford has been delivering mail to humans for 10 years. But in April one vicious pit bull terrier was the recipient of several large packages hurled by Mr. Ford to save an elderly man being attacked by the dog.
Mr. Ford received a few packages himself yesterday, including a $500 check, several plaques and an American flag, when he was honored by the U.S. Postal Service and the Prince George's County police for his heroic deed.
"He is a very brave man," said James P. Cochrane, district manager for the Postal Service.
