NATICK, Mass. - James P. Hoffa yesterday called Teamsters President Ron Carey a "crook," a "dope" and a "stooge" before promising to rebuild the tattered union just as his father, Jimmy, did decades ago.
During a whirlwind campaign swing through the Boston area, the Teamsters presidential hopeful claimed vindication in his long-running battle against Mr. Carey, who took an unpaid leave of absence Nov. 25 after being accused of looting the union's treasury to finance his re-election.
