Sean Gilbert is a fool, and he has been parted from his money. The Washington Redskins defensive tackle yesterday kissed off $6 million by not reporting before the NFL deadline to play this season.
Gilbert fulfilled his pledge not to sign for less than $10 million. He often said the holdout was based on the principle of his morals, not the principal on his bank account. Now he has eight months to ponder whether it was worthwhile.
And you know what - Gilbert may not play next season, either. This one-sided negotiation may be over for now, but it's going to continue into next season.
