Two Republican congressmen said yesterday that a Clinton administration proposal to ban most types of asthma inhalers could leave some 30 million Americans gasping for breath.
Arkansas Sen. Tom Hutchison and Florida Rep. Mark Foley railed against a Food and Drug Administration proposal to accelerate the phase-out of inhalers that use ozone-layer depleting chemicals. They said the environmental gain from a ban is not enough to jeopardize the health of asthma sufferers.
