When Labor Day was established in 1882, the idea was to give people a day off from work halfway between the Fourth of July and Thanksgiving. So why is it that many of us plan a meal that requires toiling the better part of the holiday in an overheated kitchen?
Be smart this Labor Day (which is next Monday). Use the following menu and you won't find yourself either perspiring over a stove or feeling shortchanged at the dinner table.
