LOUISVILLE, Ky. - It's not the 17 straight losing favorites that worries Frank Brothers. Nor is it the 115 years since a colt who was unraced as a 2-year-old won the Kentucky Derby. It's that Pulpit must beat both jinxes to take tomorrow's 123rd running that concerns his trainer.
"Pulpit's got a lot going against him, but he has a lot going for him, too," Brothers said. "[The unraced 2-year-old record] may never be broken, but I believe it will be. It will take an exceptional horse. Hopefully, it's ours."
