Last Sunday I was fortunate to be given a glimpse of a small gentleman executing one of the traditions of baseball - throwing out the first pitch.
The action - if you can call it that - came in the middle of the British Open in Troon, Scotland, and a ballgame between Baltimore and the Chicago White Sox in Baltimore. (You can get around with television.)
Throughout the day various sportsmen were adding more numbers to the ever fascinating statistics of sports - Cal Ripken played yet another game and Tiger Woods hit a drive 400 yards with the wind.
But the little man with the first pitch was setting a record that will never be matched.
