Czech Ambassador Alexandr Vondra served up some much-needed home cooking for Petr Korda on Friday night at the Czech Embassy and paid his countryman a visit yesterday at the Legg Mason Tennis Classic.
Korda reached today's final with a 6-2, 6-3 win over David Wheaton yesterday, one day after nearly retiring in his quarterfinal match with Tommy Haas because of a heat-induced illness. Vondra, who said he hadn't watched a tennis match in person in 10 years before yesterday, revitalized Korda with a specially prepared meal of chicken broth, spaghetti and beer.
"To see a Czech player in the finals is very nice," said Vondra, who plans to watch Korda again ...
