It was Thursday, Sept. 5, a day my wife, Sibel, had been looking forward to since receiving a notification letter from the Immigration and Naturalization Service regarding her citizenship test.
We had gone through all the required procedures, including two lengthy interviews, and provided all the documentation required to prove the validity of our marriage. She had received her permanent green card.
All that was left was for her to take her test and present the few documents requested in the letter of notification - the letter, green card and passport.
