If there is ever such a thing as a good time to get a bad game out of the way, the Washington Capitals did just that yesterday.
The Caps tied a 21-year-old club record yesterday, allowing the New York Rangers to score five power-play goals en route to a 6-1 romp at USAir Arena.
New York's effort matched that of Montreal on Jan. 4, 1975, when the Canadiens crushed Washington 10-0 - a rather routine scoring margin for the Habs against the expansionist Capitals in those early days.
