BALTIMORE - Baltimore Orioles shortstop Cal Ripken said yesterday he was "disappointed" when manager Davey Johnson sent in a pinch runner for him in the eighth inning of Wednesday night's 15-inning 11-6 loss to New York. However, Ripken added that he respected Johnson's right to make the decision.
Ripken represented the potential go-ahead run when Johnson sent in Manny Alexander, who was picked off first two pitches later.
