The chairman of the special Senate Whitewater committee yesterday asked the panel's majority counsel to review the testimony of White House aides for prospective perjury charges, saying he was "troubled by numerous instances of memory loss, half truths and outright contradictions."
"I have asked committee counsel to review the testimony and recommend to the committee what further action should be taken, including the possible referral of this matter to the independent counsel for prosecution," Sen. Alfonse M. D'Amato, New York Republican, said during a news conference.
