Texas Monthly magazine got it right when it declared last fall, "Buddy Holly Is Alive!"
The Lubbock-born beanpole boy wonder, who died Feb. 3, 1959, in an Iowa plane crash that snuffed out a brief but revolutionary rock 'n' roll career, is in full resurrection right now.
Glorified in an Oscar-nominated 1978 biopic, Holly has returned as the latest target of the tribute-album craze, "Not Fade Away," released in December and featuring, among others, Holly protege Waylon Jennings. He is the centerpiece of a new hometown museum and, finally, the subject of a new biography that had people buzzing - and fuming - even before its release.
