PHNOM PENH, Cambodia - The Voice of America has evacuated a former staffer to Washington after a newspaper demanded that its office be "pushed into the river," but it declined an offer of armed guards from the Cambodian government.
"You have to take these threats seriously," said VOA correspondent Huw Watkin. "And you have to manage these threats.
"That means talking to people personally and letting it be known that . . . an attack on VOA is bad news for Cambodia."
