The election of Hollywood legend Charlton Heston to a National Rifle Association leadership post brings much-needed reinforcements to a Washington lobby wounded by a year of internal bloodletting.
Mr. Heston, who rescued the Israelites as Moses in the movie classic "The Ten Commandments," could be the catalyst to deliver the NRA from declining membership rolls and a sagging public image. "He adds a big megaphone to the association in terms of our message," said Wayne LaPierre, the NRA's chief executive officer.
