"That might be the old nest over there," said my playing partner Don Johnson, motioning to wood pilings by the pond. "We think she's been here about three years."
Mr. Johnson and I were playing the second hole of Copperhead, the signature course at Innisbrook Hilton Resort, in late January. When we reached the fifth hole, the sun was high in the sky, and, sure enough, there she was - at least, we thought it was her. She crept out of the water ever so slowly, her scaly tail skimming along the ground like a snake. She was gone in a flash when a man drove by in his maintenance truck.
