Good news: The torrent of Civil War histories, biographies and studies of various campaigns is not subsiding. Bad news: It's impossible to keep up with them.
Here are notes on a number of recent and coming publications that should be of interest:
Peter Cozzens, an officer in the U.S. Foreign Service, previously published two well-received battle studies. He now writes "The Darkest Days of the War: The Battles of Iuka and Corinth" (University of North Carolina Press, 390 pages, Illus., $39.95 hardcover, $12.95 paperback).
