In death as in life, cop killer Terrence Johnson inspired passionate reactions from both his defenders and his detractors.
When the mother of one of the officers Johnson killed in 1978 heard Johnson killed himself yesterday morning in Aberdeen, Md., after he was cornered during a bank robbery, she said, "Thank God, justice has been done."
Blanche Claggett, mother of Officer Albert M. Claggett, who was 26 when he was gunned down, believes Johnson has finally paid for killing her son.
"I figured that he would somehow or another get himself in trouble again, but I never really thought that it would be anything like this," he said.
