Article: Executions pinned on Haitian security force: U.S. squeezes suspects from power.(A)

The Clinton administration has concluded that senior Haitian security officers were involved in about two dozen commando-style executions after former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide returned to power, a senior State Department official said yesterday.

The official said that pressure from the U.S. Congress has forced the suspects out of office since the new government of Rene Preval took power Feb. 7 but that none of them has been prosecuted.

"We came to the conclusion that about 10 people who were part of the Haitian security forces or in the Aristide government had been involved in murder," the State Department official said yesterday.
