ATLANTA - Carl Lewis should not be added to the U.S. men's 400-meter relay team.
The debate is absurd, ridiculous, outrageous. There should be no debate.
Lewis finished eighth in the 100-meter run at the U.S. trials in June. He then chose not to attend a mandatory relay-team camp in Chapel Hill, N.C., before the Summer Games.
But now, Lewis is campaigning to be added to the team, taking his case to NBC and CNN, asking the public to trumpet his cause.
Appearing on CNN's "TalkBack Live" the other day, he urged callers and a studio audience to make their feelings known to track and field's governing body.
