In the wake of the U.S. team's loss to the Czech Republic in last weekend's Davis Cup quarterfinals, it's clear that the only solution is to make John McEnroe captain.
Tom Gullikson, the team's current captain, is a nice guy, but he can't get the selfish top players such as Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi, Michael Chang and Jim Courier to commit. And the United States can't win without these guys, as was proven when the B team of Mal Washington, Todd Martin, Patrick McEnroe and Patrick Galbraith went down to defeat in Prague.
John McEnroe has the top players' respect. With one phone call, he has gotten them to play charity exhibitions in Mahwah, N.J., ...
