Top-seeded Andre Agassi's match last night at the Legg Mason Tennis Classic bore several striking similarities to Tuesday's 7-6 (7-1), 6-3 victory over Jacco Eltingh. Agassi faced trouble early and often against 15th-seeded Patrick Rafter, as well as another booming serve, just as he did Tuesday.
The one difference was that Agassi lost - badly.
Rafter pulled off the upset 6-7, 6-0, 6-2, and advanced to the quarterfinals before 7,022 at the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center.
Agassi now heads for the Olympics. He wanted to get back in condition before going to Atlanta. A couple matches was all he wanted - and that's all he got. ...
